Tea Time for Thought

I do love tea, but allow me to be more figurative on this post. I've had a lot on my mind lately, and I've been having a hard time trying to walk away from a difficult relationship. I won't go into too many details, but I really think highly of this person, but I don't think the person feels the same way about me. For years, I've been driving myself crazy trying to not only win back the same amount of love, maybe more, for myself, but also proving my value and worth to this person.

As I was talking to my awesome mom (way wise beyond her years), she gave me a nugget of wisdom, "some people are just not capable of loving." She also explained that she had previously read an insightful story about a woman whose two best friends were gossiping about her behind her back. She walked up to them, smiled, and walked away. When talking about it with another friend, the woman revealed that there are "people that cannot come into the future with me, and I must leave them there in the past as I move forward." Isn't that beautiful?! At that moment I realized that I don't necessarily have to feel bitter or hatred towards that particular person, but I'm wasting precious time by staying stuck in the past. I need to move forward without them and wish them well.

As for the tea part, my mom also shared with me an amazing poem that I'd like to share with you. As you read it, I encourage you to take a look at your life, and if there are people that are taking away from your joy, making you desperately chase them down- stop! You are enough, and you don't have anything to prove to anybody. It's God's job to love us, and He can give us all the love we need (and way more than we ever thought- see Ephesians 3:20). I hope this blesses you today. Remember Jesus loves you, and so do I! Xoxo- Amy

"You are not Everyone's Cup of Tea"- Anonymous

The world is filled with people who, no matter what you do, no matter what you try, will simply not like you. But the world is also filled with those who will love your fiercely. The ones who love you: they are Your People.

Don't waste your finite time and heart trying to convince the people who aren't your people that you have value. They will miss it completely. They won't buy what you are selling. Don't try to convince them to walk your path with you because you will only waste your time and your emotional good health. You are not for them, and they are not for you. You are not their cup of tea and they are not yours.

Politely wave them along, and you move away as well. Seek to share your path with those who are recognize and appreciate your gifts, who you are.

Be who you are.

You are not everyone's cup of tea, and that is OK.
