Another "Loud Librarian" Book Review

It's no surprise that I am a huge book lover, bookworm, book junkie, and book hoarder (YIKES!). I just finished another great read, which is on the New York Times Bestsellers list.

I'm a huge fan of memoirs and biographies, especially those that love to play with your emotions. I also have great admiration and respect for stories that revolve around the underdog. They have hard times, especially when constantly being kicked while they are down. Yet, they still get up, wipe the grit and dust off themselves, and keep going. This story is about one of these amazing, strong, women. I first noticed it in my boss's office, and after hearing her talk about it, I knew I had to swipe it for myself.

Maid by Stephanie Land focuses on Land's journey as a single mom on her own. Without going into too many spoilers or details, Land describes her experience escaping an abusive relationship, raising a young daughter, experiencing poverty, fighting the Government for assistance, cleaning houses, and trying to create a new life for herself and her daughter. This book will enlighten you on many issues regarding poverty, as well as how it affects many Americans, especially single-parent households. You will not only be enlightened, but also inspired by the heartwarming, caring individuals, as well as possibly be shocked with some of the conditions (work and home) she has to face. I was truly inspired by this read and I hope you will be too.

I'd like to close with a quote that I discovered on Facebook last week, which I think is a perfect way to describe this read:

"Don't judge people by where they live. Sometimes there is more love in that little home than you would find in a mansion." - Unknown

If you get a chance to read it, I hope you do. It was such a moving story. Don't forget to subscribe below and comment on some of your favorite reads, new or old. I'm always looking for new authors!

Take care, everyone! -Amy Ephesians 3:20
